CME Associates, a CHA company, is currently seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Transportation group in the East Hartford, CT or Providence, RI office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently completes complex development of engineering design, preparation of specifications, compiles technical reports and other activities requiring the knowledge of standard engineering principles and techniques
Responsible for the development of design computations, technical reports, technical specifications and preparation of the contract documents using the standards established by the technical group
Identifies, develops, and gathers technical resources necessary to complete assignments
Selects proper procedures to self-check his/her own work for completeness and accuracy in technical reports and calculations
Recognizes technical discrepancies in analytical results and makes appropriate corrections following standard procedures established by the technical group
Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates detailed phases of a project independently with other engineering disciplines and project management staff
Continuously monitors the progress and performance on a project to ensure efficient production, to uncover potential problems and to minimize malfunction in executing a design
Continuously monitors the progress and performance of the engineering design development against the project work plan
Can develop individual discipline work plans to coincide with the milestones of a project work plan
Complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints
Provides guidance to junior level engineering staff members
Provides technical review of work completed by junior level engineering staff as necessary
May assist or be involved in the technical scope proposal development
Independently completes field assignments when appropriate
Performs other appropriate related engineering duties
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required, Master's degree a plus
Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 4 years progressive engineering experience is required
Expert knowledge of Transportation engineering/Highway design with a proven ability to practically apply best practices
Prior experience working on projects for RIDOT, MassDOT or CTDOT preferred
Proficiency with MS Office software required
Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software; specifically, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation InRoads
Understands QA/QC procedures and understands basic business practices and laws related to engineering
Completely familiar with and advocates for the company's standards for quality control and compliance
Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and effectively work in a collaborative environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
An active role in a professional engineering society/organization preferred
Proven ability to lead a team
