ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - Tyee High School (Posted 5/24/24) Position Profile: Tyee High School is seeking an Assistant Principal to complement the existing leadership team and support the Tyee High School students, families, and staff as an instructional leader.

This individual has a demonstrated commitment to anti-racist education as reflected in their previous teaching, learning, and leadership practices and experiences, in addition to having experience working with a linguistically and ethnically diverse population of students and families.

As a leader at Tyee, this individual must be someone who values and seeks authentic two-way communication with families in our community, and also be someone who values diversity, innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. An ideal candidate for this position is someone who has experience in Special Education and working with staff to develop inclusive practices. As an instructional leader, this individual must be someone who has experience in leading staff with Standards Based Grading and Instruction, in addition to being heavily invested in the development of students and prioritizes social-emotional learning and development in context with instructional practices as well as restorative approach that centers student voice.

An ideal candidate for this position is someone who has the ability to support our vision and is able to bring staff, students, and community together around shared goals, and is someone who builds and sustains meaningful relationships with community partners. This candidate is able to create systems of organization and leverage digital tools and supports in order to positively influence school culture and instructional goals.

As the Dual Language program grows at Tyee High School, an ideal candidate for this position is multilingual with a background in language learning as well as has experience teaching and/or leading in contexts with Dual Language education programs. In addition, the ideal candidate values and seeks authentic two-way communication with families and the broader school community with a commitment to positively influence school culture and instructional goals.

As a leader, this individual demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to meet the changing and dynamic needs of a dual language elementary school. Ideally this candidate has led MTSS, PBIS, IRI systems for academic and social-emotional systems and supports, has experience teaching/leading language learners including Dual Language programs while also prioritizing student development and social-emotional learning.

This individual knows and understands best practices aligned to Standards-Based Grading and Instruction, UDL, Inclusion and uses a data informed approach to decision making. Additionally, an ideal candidate for this position is someone who has the ability to translate vision and theory into concrete, actionable items in a way that balances both the transformational and tactical/technical elements that are involved in leading a school. This candidate is able to create systems of organization and leverage digital tools and supports in order to positively influence school culture and instructional goals, including that of personalized learning. As the Dual Language program continues to grow at Glacier Middle School, an ideal candidate for this position is multilingual with a background in language learning as well as has experience teaching and/or leading in contexts with Dual Language education programs.
