Ethnic Studies is an interdisciplinary and comparative study of the social, cultural, artistic, political, historical, and economic expression and experience of race and ethnicity that primarily centers the studies of American Indians/Native Americans, Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders, Black/African Americans, and Chicanx/Latinx. Under direction of site administration. The Ethnic Studies instructor will utilize the California Department of Education's Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum to generate curricular, research, creative, and/or service projects related to: decolonization; cultural resistance; poetics; music, dance, and embodied knowledge/memory; Latinx and Chicanx indigeneities; Filipina/o/x American literatures; and historiographies of solidarity. Intern, Provisional Internship Permits, and Short Term Staff Permits will be considered. A stipend will be provided to any new fully credentialed teacher that signs a contract with the district and agrees to stay for a minimum of three (3) years. The stipend will be paid to the unit member in the following manner: a. $1,000 to be paid within 45 days after the first day of paid contracted service. b. $1,000 to be paid within 45 days after the first day of contractyed employment in the second year with the District. c. $1,000 to be paid within 45 days after the first day of contracted employment in the third year with the District.

Qualification for employment includes completion of online training in the following areas: *New Employee Training *Preventing Workplace Violence *Bloodborne Pathogens *Sexual Harassment *Child Abuse/Mandated Reporter Upon offer of employment, candidates will receive information and directions regarding this training. Applicants must possess a valid California credential authorizing service in High School level Social Science.

Upon hiring, salary placement will be determined by the number of upper division/graduate level units earned from a WASC accredited four-year college or university. Units must be earned subsequent to the date of the Bachelor's degree. * A maximum of fifteen (15) years credit is allowed for teaching experience in a public school (K-12) or an accredited private school (K-12).
There is a $1000.00 Doctoral stipend.
