Revere High School is seeking a highly qualified High School Special Education Teacher for a Post-Graduate Classroom dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking teachers who are passionate and dedicated to bringing the curriculum to life for each student. We want our teachers to be excited to create a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. This role will blend functional academics, daily living skills, personal/social skills, and pre-vocational skills into daily instruction in a substantially separate setting for high school students with a range of significant disability-related needs.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools.
Provide quality instruction specifically designed to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of students based on appropriately high expectations for all learners.
Create safe learning environments built around culturally responsive teaching practices.
Chair Annual Review team meetings
Communicate and meet with caregivers regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
Facilitate Team meetings, IEP progress monitoring and reporting and other Special Education required regulations
Monitor student progress
Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, special education and general education teachers.
Develop and submit MCAS ALT portfolios.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in education or related field; Master's degree preferred
Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Mild/Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities (Grades 5-12) and SEI Endorsement
High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs
Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap
A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community
Ability to properly manage confidential information
Able to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.)
Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and respect for others with the ability to establish rapport with and relate to students, caregivers, and coworkers with respect, compassion, tact and understanding
Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity, and anti-racist practices
