Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable High School Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to educational excellence and a deep understanding of science. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging science lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and a love for science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum requirements.

  • Teach high school science courses, including but not limited to Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science, using a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

  • Assess and document student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.

  • Utilize technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience.

  • Encourage critical thinking, experimentation, and inquiry-based learning.

  • Conduct hands-on experiments and demonstrations to illustrate scientific concepts.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement cross-curricular activities and projects.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

  • Create a classroom culture that encourages respectful interactions, curiosity, and a growth mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.

  • Previous teaching experience, preferably in a high school setting.

  • Strong knowledge of science content and effective teaching strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment.

  • Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project-based learning and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education.

  • Familiarity with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Valid Texas teaching certification for high school science.
