St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking the next member of its distinguished faculty. Currently, we are seeking a science teacher to teach life sciences: Biology (regular, honors, and AP) and related courses (microbiology among them). This is a full-time position, with benefits. The school has a commitment to lab-based inquiry within science courses, and expects department members to build courses with labs as the center of student work.
The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment, in all disciplines including the sciences, and seeks teachers who can share our faith with young people.
Responsibilities & Duties
Prepare curriculum documents to include labs, standards, scope and sequences, syllabi, and lesson plans
Use appropriate and varied instructional strategies, activities, and materials to promote student success and achievement
Consistently monitor student achievement through appropriate and varied formative and summative assessments
Update the school's electronic gradebook site (RenWeb) with lesson plans and student grades at least once per week
Establish and maintain open communication with students, their parents, and administration
Attend faculty meetings, events, and professional development
Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Collaborate with other faculty members for professional, instructional, and supervisory duties
Assume a variety of roles in support of student activities outside of class, both during the school day and after normal school hours

We are an Archdiocesan Catholic High School, now in our twelfth year. Our students are all pointed toward post-secondary education, and desire to be challenged in the classroom and inspired to grow in their faith. We use a Great Books approach in Humanities classes, and offer twenty-one AP and dual credit courses. Our teachers must be active Catholics, with a desire and ability to lead young people by example into a deeper communion with our faith.

Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Science or Bachelor's Degree with 24 credit hours in the content area
Advanced degrees are not required, but preferred
A valid, appropriate Texas Teacher's Certificate, or 12 credit hours in education courses
Technology Proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes)
Qualifications
Be an active Catholic, with a desire and ability to lead young people by example into a deeper communion with our faith, our Blessed Mother, and her Son, Jesus Christ
Have knowledge of both curriculum and instruction, and the ability to engage and instruct students in the content area
Have the ability to manage a classroom along with student behavior
Promptly address student needs through interventions, including modifying instructional approaches
Have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers
Be a lifelong learner of his/her practice, and have an openness to self-reflect, receive, and implement feedback on improving their teaching skills.
