Program Overview: HSEAS supports a diverse population of students in attaining their High school diploma and access to postsecondary education. HSEAS accomplishes this through our High School Re-Engagement and High School Engagement Programs. High School Engagement Programs partner with local school districts to help graduating seniors transition to Highline College.

HSEAS' Re-engagement programs serve students 16 years old and older who have dropped out of school or are significantly behind in credits and need to graduate. We serve students through cohort based, dual credit programs that allow students to earn a high school diploma while progressing toward a college degree or certificate.

Position Overview: The High School Re-Engagement Specialist position reports to the Program Director & Assistant Director and works under general supervision at planning, organizing and coordinating operations of HSEAS. This position provides support to current, returning and prospective HSEAS and High School Plus students.

This is an exempt, salaried overtime-eligible, at-will, full-time position.

Essential Tasks

The person in this position will:

Program Support

  • Plan, build & organize new student recruiting processes such as info sessions, assessments, account activation & orientations;

  • Visit schools to promote all high school programs;

  • Organize intake and reporting paperwork for Youth & HS Plus students;

  • Submit and process key paperwork, such as enrollment forms & choice transfers, to district partners;

  • Track data that consists of student attendance, weekly check-ins, new/returning/current students & special projects;

  • Update systems pertaining to enrollment, grades & invoice reporting;

  • Occasionally support instruction or substitute for classes;

  • Collaborate with departments across Highline campus by tabling events & attending meetings;

  • Support major program events, such as CollegeCon, Partner Breakfast, Highline Expo & End of Year Celebration;

  • Provide assistance for instructors involved in state testing, WIDA, SBA & CASAS testing;

  • Attend weekly team, staff & student meetings;

  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Advising Support:

  • Advise a caseload of 20-25 students;

  • Register/Drop new, returning & current students;

  • Participate in weekly check-in with students;

  • Meeting with students as needed.

Administrative Support:

  • Respond to inquiries and questions in person, via phone and email;

  • Coordinator meetings, conferences and room assignments;

  • Updating the program website as needed;

  • Organizing student files;

  • Makes copy, label, print and scan documents;

  • Manage zoom drop in sessions virtually;

  • Training & support student workers.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines;

  • Work independently with limited oversight;

  • Maintaining confidentiality with sensitive subjects and documents;

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service;

  • Skillfully utilize- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel);

  • Understand and appreciate the college's mission and values;

  • Provide support to staff, faculty, student workers and volunteers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma; AND
  • 3-5 years of experience in education;

OR

  • AA/A degree; AND
  • 1-2 years of experience in Community Colleges and/or Higher Education;

AND

  • Experience working with Community Colleges and Higher Education;

  • Experience working with youth 16 and older.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in education, administration, counseling or a related field;
  • 1-2 years of experience counseling/advising youth, and program development.

Supplemental Information
