Anticipated Openings for the 2024-25 School Year

Title:

High School Integrated Science Teacher

Department:

Certified

Responsible To:

Building Principal/Administrator

Supervises:

Educational assistants (para-professionals)/volunteers/student teachers

Qualifications:

Must hold a valid Ohio Teaching License and/or the

appropriate Endorsement and Authorization for the assignment.

Bachelor's Degree in education from an accredited college or

university.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may

find appropriate and acceptable.

Terms of Employment:

Contract, salary, and benefits per negotiated agreement.

Job Goal:

The teacher is the primary instructional delivery person in the classroom. Student learning and growth are primarily dependent on the work and efforts of the classroom teacher. The position is demanding, varied and complex. The classroom teacher must have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and researched based effective teaching strategies.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of students.

  • Demonstrates a focus for student learning, with appropriate learning objectives that include

  • measurable goal(s) for student learning aligned with the Ohio standards.

  • Instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.

  • Employs a variety of formal and informal assessment techniques to collect evidence of students' knowledge and skills and analyzes data to effectively inform instructional planning and delivery.

  • Demonstrate thoughtful preparation for each class by constructing clear, detailed and timely lesson plans.

  • Effectively use technology to support high quality instruction and student learning.

  • Plans and sequences instruction to include the important content, concepts, and processes in school and district curriculum priorities and in state standards.

  • Demonstrates familiarity with students' background knowledge and experiences and describes multiple procedures used to obtain this information.

  • Work collaboratively with intervention, gifted and support service staff to ensure student learning goals are met.

  • Supports the learning needs of students, through a variety of strategies, materials, and/or pacing that make learning accessible and challenging for each student.

  • Maintains positive rapport with students and demonstrates respect for and interest in all students.

  • Creates routines and procedures that run smoothly throughout the lesson, and students assume age-appropriate levels of responsibility for the efficient operation of the classroom.

  • Provides substantive, specific, and timely feedback of student progress to students, families, and other school personnel while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative guidelines.

  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and develop reasonable rules of behavior and procedures for the classroom to maintain order in a fair and just manner.

  • Uses effective communication strategies with students and families and works effectively with colleagues to examine problems of practice, analyze student work, and identify targeted strategies.

  • Meets ethical and professional responsibilities with integrity and honesty. The teacher models and upholds district policies and state and federal regulations.

  • Sets data-based short and long-term professional goals and takes action to meet these goals.

  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required.

  • Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.

  • Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators.

  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.

  • Maintain knowledge of academic area, teaching methodology and strategies to engage students.

  • Ability to work effectively with others.

  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgement.

  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.

  • Attends meetings, professional development and serves on staff committees as required.

  • Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents.

  • Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy.

  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation.

  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect district equipment, materials and facilities.

  • Plans purposeful assignments for educational assistants (para-professionals), volunteers and student teachers.
