High School Guidance Counselor

Qualifications:

• Minimum Master's Degree in School Counseling

• Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.

• Experience in scheduling student courses that best suits their future career choice.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of Indiana Graduation Pathways and Diploma requirements

• Ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Proficient in technology and student management applications.

• Culturally competent and committed to equity and inclusion.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Implement all MSD of Boone Township policies as they relate to the students.

• Support the MSD of Boone Township mission, vision, core values and goals.

• Guide students to explore career options, develop educational plans, and select appropriate courses.

• Assist students in selecting courses, developing academic plans, and monitoring progress towards graduation requirements.

• Assist in the planning and coordination of career programs, college visitations, and student and parent orientation/information sessions.

• Provide guidance to each student that leads to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.

• Provide one-on-one support to students on academic, career, social-emotional, and personal matters.

• Help students explore post-secondary options, research colleges and universities, apply for scholarships and financial aid, and prepare for standardized

tests.

• Assist students with challenges such as bullying, family issues, grief, and mental health concerns.

• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to provide coordinated support.

• Track student progress, analyze data, and use findings to inform program development and interventions.

• Maintain accurate and confidential student records.

• Establish and maintain communications with students and parents.

• Stay informed about current educational trends and best practices.
