The Supervisor is to provide students with academic skills through the coordination of online high school programs, HiSET and other high school diploma pathways. All functions are handled in compliance with DOL, Corporate and Center requirements. Conducts and manages academic classes. Responsible for providing academic training to Job Corp students in accordance with approved curricula to ensure students leave the program with a high school diploma or GED. HSD, Math, Reading and ELL Instructors will report to the `HSD Supervisor.
Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Assist with the Coordination of all facets of the HSD/ OLHS program to maximize Center success and ensures that each student transcript is evaluated in a timely manner and processed.
Maintains good working relationships with outside HSD vendors i.e. Penn foster and Roswell Independent School District.
Responsible for all HSD/OLHS.
Develops corrective action plan for student deficiencies and progression. Provides educational plans utilizing Job corps guidelines and HSD/HSE program guidelines.
Ensures that each student has required accommodation's per the DOL, Corporate, Center and outside school districts requirements. Ensures that students in the HSD program that have center accommodations also have accommodations in the school districts. Works closely with outside school districts Special Education team and assist with implementing 504 plans if needed.
Ensures that students course change schedules are modified once transcript evaluations are completed, and assist in scheduling students in the required HSD/HSE pathway.
Meets with Career technical training instructors to identify required skills that can be taught and reinforced by applying technical skills in an academic setting.
Maintains accurate record keeping and Monitors statistical performance, handles information in a confidential manner. Evaluates the relevancy, accuracy, and appropriate use of data. Organizes, maintains, and uses information sent by the HSD instructor to begin the OLHS enrollment process.
Submits ESP's as scheduled in a timely fashion. Documents student progress for inclusion on the ETA 640 profile. Records and forwards daily attendance to the Counseling and Records departments. Maintains student files of all HSD/HSE work submitted by each student. Prepares weekly reports and other reports required by the DOL, Corporate Office, Center and E & T Pays attention to detail, ensuring that documents distributed from HSD/HSE Supervisor are well written, comprehensive, and error-free and of a high quality. Maintains department files to include student transcripts, weekly reports, weekly summation reports, etc. Develops Corrective Action Plan for Deficiency. Provides educational plans utilizing Job Corps' guidelines and HSD/HSE programs.
Performs other duties as requested by E&T Manager: Schedules and attends office meetings as well as off-center meetings with various school districts, sends out required reports, attends training, works in lieu of other Academic staff on an as-needed basis, completes tasks in a timely and proficient manner, tracks and follow through on action items, exercises good judgment and problem-solving skills on E&T Manager's behalf, and other comparable duties.
Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom/training environment, ensuring maximum student motivation and outcomes
Integrates math, reading, and writing concepts with employability, and Career Success Standards
Designs instruction to meet individual student needs, maintains a high degree of discipline within the training area, submits necessary schedule change information.
Designs curriculum within Job Corps guidelines to ensure students' academic needs are met.
Ensures curriculum developed is sufficient for students to pass all tests and certifications.
Conducts classes that explain test preparation and study skills.
Develops and implements Career Success Standards projects.
Stays current on new teaching, instruction and facilitation techniques.
Administers accurate completion of the Training Achievement Records (TAR) in a timely manner.
Documents student's progress in case notes at least monthly and records daily attendance
Completes a monthly Accommodation Effectiveness Review for each student with a documented accommodation.
Ensures that each student tests on time in accordance with the PRH. Schedules and administers the High School Diploma Exam.
Administers the Career Success Standards Expectation Tool Survey (CS SET) to each student.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures that all equipment assigned to the academic classrooms is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition.
Participates in Career Mentoring Teams.
Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Valid state driver's license.
Preferred Education and Experience
One year of teaching experience.
