Job Title: High School CV Tech Counselor (Grant Funded)

Location: CVTech Sending Schools within Canadian and Oklahoma counties

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent

FLSA Status: Exempt, 10 Month

SUMMARY

Provide career guidance and counseling to students to assist them in making strategically informed decisions related to career and technical education. Work with assigned sending schools and other agencies to coordinate related services. Actively engages with all sending school grade levels promoting CV Tech programs. Provide assistance in determining occupational objectives suited to the desires, interests, and needs of the student. This position is grant funded and is dependent on annual renewal of funding.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree; Oklahoma State Department of Education Secondary Counselor's Certificate. Minimum of three (3) years secondary teaching experience or equivalent experience in a public school and/or Career Tech environment. Preference may be given for experience working in an Oklahoma Technology Center.

Travel across the district is required; must possess a valid Class D Oklahoma driver's license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience to operate district vehicles and maintain an acceptable driving record.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a liaison between sending schools and CV Tech.

  • Assist the student enrollment process for CV Tech programs and Project Connect.

  • Assist in the coordination of all student recruitment activities with CV Tech and assigned high school(s) including, but not limited to student tours, shadowing, pre-enrollment, direct mail, parental outreach, and career exploration.

  • Assist high school counselors and CV Tech counselors with student applications.

  • Interpret achievement, interest, and aptitude tests to help students determine their occupational goals and interests.

  • Identify, inform, and encourage the enrollment of individuals seeking career and technical education.

  • Maintain and make available career planning information for faculty, students, and families.

  • Counsel with students who are having attendance, educational, or personal problems as related to CV Tech.

  • Promote and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders

  • Work closely with the guidance and counseling department at the State Department of Education and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

  • Attend, participate and provide leadership in staff development activities and faculty meetings as required by Oklahoma Statute, Board Policy, and Local Staff Development Plan.

  • Represent CV Tech in IEP/504 meetings as directed by supervisor.

  • Respond to crisis situations and coordinate appropriate referrals including utilization of CV Tech or high school support counselor.

  • Maintains student records in accordance with all applicable Federal, State statutes and regulations.

  • Attend the annual Oklahoma Career and Technical Education conference in August and other conferences and workshops as required.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

The primary work environment is in an office environment that regularly requires employee to sit for extended periods of time. Requires reliable, dependable and punctual attendance.
