SALARY: $49,638.36-$92,138.12 (DOE)

Hiring Bonus: All new hire teachers that are properly licensed and endorsed (meaning- not on an emergency license, restricted license, or with a conditional assignment endorsement) will receive the signing bonus.

For staff that are not properly licensed or endorsed, they shall receive the bonus once properly licensed/endorsed (within three years of hire) and will be paid as defined below as much as possible. This bonus will not be extended to current District teachers or former District teachers (including retirees) who left the district in the last five years. The signing bonus will be paid in three payments: Year one (1): $2,500; Year two (2): $1,500; and Year three (3) $1,000.

Insurance: Generous Health, dental, and vision contribution from the district, currently up to $2,130 (based upon family coverage), TBD for 2024-2025.

PERS Retirement: The district assumes and pays the 6% average employee contribution to the Oregon PERS system.

SCHEDULE: 190 Days + 3 days new teacher inservice

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Klamath Falls City School District policies

General Job Qualifications:
The Construction Teacher is primarily responsible for maintaining an effective Construction/Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship Program at Eagle Ridge High School.
Ability to effectively master the teaching of the construction curriculum and assessment practices approved by the school district and CTE department.
Ability to effectively supervise student safety practices
Ability to collaborate with administration, colleagues, and the CTE Construction Industry Advisory Team.
Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations
Work within the district's communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.
This position is considered a safety sensitive position.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Teaching a full range of construction skills with an emphasis on safety, professionalism, and employability in the skilled trades.
Teach Eagle Ridge High School's Pre-Apprenticeship construction curriculum that has been created through a partnership with Klamath Community College (KCC) and the Southern Oregon Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (SOJATC).
Obtain CTE Teaching certification through the Oregon Dept. of Education (ODE) and necessary industry certifications including, but not limited to OSHA 10 and becoming a certified NCCER instructor (National Center for Construction Education and Research).
Understand and master industry safety standards and ensure that all students and guests understand and follow industry safety standards.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment and develop short-term and long-term goals for facility and equipment improvement.
Communicate with the District CTE Dept. and building principal on program needs and plans for continuous improvement.
Work closely with other CTE programs in the school district.
Coordinate guest speakers.
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Maintain all certifications as required by KFCS.
Coordinate the program's CTE Industry Advisory Committee by recruiting new industry members, communicating program progress with current industry members, and host 2 industry advisory board meetings per school year.
Work collaboratively in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff and others as appropriate in addressing the needs of students, developing effective teaching, and learning practices and developing and implementing best practices.
Maintain and provides reasonable and meaningful student grading and evaluation on KFCS student information systems.
The teacher will actively participate in faculty and department meetings, assist the building of the Construction program budget, implement, and evaluate the school's Construction program and do related work as required.
The teacher is constantly observant of the needs and challenges of students and promptly engages an administrator or appropriate educational when the teacher suspects or reasonably believes that a student is at risk or in danger due to such issues as bullying, sexual harassment/misconduct, depression or suicide ideation, or academic failure. The teacher is a role model for students and practices the behaviors expected of them.
The teacher will establish a professional growth plan and annually review the plan and progress with administration.
Required to follow ERHS and KFCS Board policies and stay up to date on updates and changes.
Additional duties as assigned by Building Administrator or designee.

Requirements:
Approved for employment through an Oregon School-based fingerprint screening.
Attain a CTE Teaching License for a Construction CTE Program of Study.
