SUMMARY:

School Teachers will teach grade level material, content specific lesson plans, and personal development, following NGSC standards-based curriculum.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding.

  • Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.

  • Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

  • Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.

  • Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have the ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Provide effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Have the ability to manage classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities.

  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in education or in the subject areas for which you are applying.

  • Must hold or be able to obtain licensure in Biology.

  • Additional licensure in Chemistry, Earth Science and / or Physics (desirable)

  • Master's Degree, preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Have a valid Indiana state teaching license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee must be able to see and read close work such as typed or handwritten material and have good depth perception. The employee must be able to hear conversation and to communicate through speech. Occasionally the employee will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. The employee is occasionally required to squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds or more, such as pushing materials on a cart.

Fifteen (15) non-designated leave days per school year. Unused non-designated days roll over into sick days at the end of each contract year.

  • Medical Insurance options PPO or CDHP with HSA. Cost is shared between employee and corporation. Employee cost outlined below:

Employee + 1 $ 440.28/mo. $ 243.86/mo.

Family $ 645.16/mo. $ 345.46/mo.

UMR/VSP - Vision Insurance for single coverage paid by corporation. Vision insurance with family coverage cost the employee $9.33 per month.

UMR/NIS - Group Term Life Insurance of $50,000 paid by corporation. Coverage includes Accidental Death and Dismemberment and Waiver of Premium for Total Disability. Option to purchase additional coverage in increments of $25,000 or $50,000 and/or dependent life insurance.

UMR/NIS - Long-Term Disability Insurance paid by corporation. Coverage of Schedule Amount of 66 2/3% of monthly pay subject to a maximum Schedule Amount of $6,000 per month. The qualifying period is 90 days.

Delta Dental of Indiana

  • Employee can purchase dental insurance.

Employee can purchase supplemental insurance plans (cancer, accident, short term disability, etc.).

Liberty Federal Credit Union membership (can elect payroll deductions to be deposited with Liberty Federal Credit Union).

Teacher Retirement Fund

  • 3% deduction paid by corporation. Employee can elect voluntary contributions to TRF.

Matching Retirement Plan

  • If certified employee contributes at least 2% of their salary into a 403(b) of their choice, then the corporation will match a maximum of 2% into a 401(a) with Met Life.
