JOB DESCRIPTION
North Central High School (www.nchs.cc ) is hiring a full time Associate Choral Director.
North Central has a strong choral tradition in both concert and show choir along with a very supportive community and administration. The successful candidate will be ready to contribute to the North Central Performing Arts Department's tradition of excellence, and deliver a progressive and challenging curriculum in their class assignments.
Responsibilities include:
NC Choirs consists of 9 groups of varying abilities. Our top advanced choirs are Counterpoints [mixed concert & show], King's Court [mixed madrigal, concert, & jazz], and Descants [univoiced concert & show]. Each of our three choir directors serves as the lead teacher in one of the 3 advanced choirs. Lead teachers for the 24-25 school year will be determined once we have our team in place. Placement will be determined based on the strengths and experience levels within the team.
Work in collaboration with the other choral directors to foster the growth of both our students and choral program at large
Teaching 6 classes of varying levels and styles. Choral offerings at North Central. Include advanced concert/show/jazz/madrigal choirs, intermediate concert/show choirs, gospel choir, and music opportunities for special educational needs students.
In addition to a schedule of mostly choir classes, teaching assignments may include piano lab, social history of rock & roll, or music theory. Final teaching assignments will be determined based on the skills and strengths of the successful applicant
Work with other teachers and the Performing Arts Department Chair to plan and supervise extra curricular rehearsals, performances, and contests each school year
Participate in all aspects of the high school choral program and communicate with our middle schools to prepare them for high school
Participate in repertoire selection and curriculum development for all choral ensembles
Participate in the creative/design process for selecting music and costumes for competition show choirs
Assist in planning/implementing annual fund raisers
Assist with vocal preparation for annual Fall Musical
Work in collaboration with parent groups to support the North Central Performing Arts Department
Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university
Valid Indiana teaching certificate appropriate for secondary music
Previous experience at the secondary level
Demonstrates skills in leading, motivating, and cooperating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
Strong communication skills
Demonstrates ability to teach in a large, successful choral program in a public school setting
Outstanding conducting skills and musical talent
Basic piano proficiency required, advanced piano skills preferred
PAY, BENEFITS, AND WORK SCHEDULE:
Pay is based on the Board of Education approved salary schedule.
