POSITION SUMMARY

New Vistas High School Assistant (AP) will serve as a core member of the school's leadership team. The AP will lead in the areas of school culture and climate, student discipline support services, and oversee the evening high school. The AP will assist the Principal in all other aspects of school functions that are aligned with the school's mission, strategic plans, annual goals, and commitments.

This is a full-time 200-day position with a competitive salary and benefits package that includes health and retirement benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in education or related field or in the process of obtaining one

  • Indiana Administrator's License or in the process of obtaining one

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in secondary education

  • Pass pre-employment background check

  • Proven Instructional Leadership: Promotes high rigor, high support instruction to close academic gaps and prepare students for post-secondary opportunities and demonstrated leadership qualities that inspire, motivate, and lead teams to achieve desirable results.

  • Effective Communication Skills: Can articulate and expresses thoughts effectively using oral, written, visual, and active listening skills.

  • Organizational Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to plan, attend to details, prioritize tasks, and pursue quality outcomes in an organized and timely fashion.

  • Informed Decision Making: Identifies and comprehends issues, problems, and opportunities; collects and analyzes data to make informed decisions.

  • Educational Research: Actively seeks and stays abreast of educational research to achieve impact student outcomes and goals.

  • Instructional Coaching: Provides timely guidance and effective feedback to help teachers strengthen specific knowledge/ skill areas needed to accomplish a task, solve problems, or reach goals within their role.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead efforts to cultivate a safe and positive school culture and climate for all members of the school community that maximizes learning success. The AP will strive to ensure the:

  • Clear communication of school rules, expectations, and infraction consequences;

  • Consistent and fair enforcement of school rules and expectations;

  • Implementation of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) including Advisory periods, Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), and other initiatives

  • Oversite of all aspects of student discipline, including investigations of infractions, consequence determination, parent contact, reports, and log entries;

  • Engagement of students, parents, and staff to address discipline and attendance issues, and to identify, implement, and monitor corrective action plan(s);

  • Leadership of schools Student Support Team to monitor academic, attendance, and behavioral outcomes for all students and to identify students who are in need of corrective action plans;

  • Annual review of the Student Handbook, MTSS, policies and procedures by using data and feedback from stakeholders;

  • Support of school-wide efforts to build effective school-wide restorative practices;

  • Facilitation of opportunities to acknowledge and celebrate success and to develop school and community pride;

2.Assist Principal with efforts to maximize talent competencies and efficacy through:

  • Ongoing observations, coaching, and support of teachers to identify, address, and assess areas of strength and those in need of corrective action;

  • Development of Professional Learning Communities and Professional Training and Development opportunities;

  • Monitoring of employee retention, forecasting staffing needs, and building/ fostering a network of prospects;

3.Maintain accurate and current data in areas of assigned responsibility for state-wide mandatory reporting, compliance with regulations, monthly internal

reporting, analysis and decision-making;

4.Provide supervision of students and staff as needed;

5.Contribute to the school's continuous improvement efforts by:

  • Assisting with the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual goals and strategic plans;

  • Researching and advocating for models of best practices;

  • Collecting and analyzing key data metrics;

6.Provide leadership of the school's instructional program by:

  • Working with the Principal and teachers to review, develop, and maintain a rigorous and relevant curriculum and to deliver instruction using school's instructional priorities model;

  • Overseeing New Vistas Evening and Virtual Academy;

  • Contributing to development of program options and design
