As a Senior Manager in the Baker Tilly High Net Worth Tax Group, you will provide experienced tax knowledge of complex individual, partnership, S-Corp, trust, estate, gift and state tax returns while providing strong leadership, communication, project management, and team building skills. You will collaborate with managers, directors, and partners within the group as you perform technical reviews of tax returns and participate proactively in client meetings and tax planning efforts.

  • Perform technical review of tax documents

  • Provide comprehensive tax planning and structuring consultations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues in the office, other service lines, engagement/project teams and clients

  • Be accessible, anticipate client needs, questions, and issues

  • Schedule internal and external deadlines to meet client expectations for delivery

  • Understand firm's strategy, practice areas, and service offerings, and be actively involved in proposal activities and networking efforts

  • Supervise senior members, review their work for completeness and accuracy, provide review points with guidance for colleagues and provide client delivery

  • Regularly look for opportunities, recommendations, and additional firm services that could benefit client


  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Active CPA license

  • 7+ years of Public Accounting experience demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of tax engagements completed simultaneously or a combination of family office and (4 years minimum) public accounting experience

  • Concentrated experience with trust, estate, gift, complex individual and state tax returns

  • Proficient experience with corporate, partnership, S-Corp income taxation and tax-exempt organizations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (public speaking skills a plus)

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving ability

  • Must be highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks in a complex, dynamic environment

  • Proficient knowledge of automated tax processing systems and Microsoft Office tools

  • Expert understanding, comprehension, and ability to articulate various business processes and tax law

  • Proven leadership, communication, project management, and team building skills

  • Trust and confidence of the partner group and staff

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation

  • 8+ years of Public Accounting experience

  • Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships

  • Take responsibility to develop others by sharing experiences, educating others on firm procedures, and on-the-job training

  • Provide opportunities for senior members to supervise staff members and provide guidance

  • Self-starter

  • Experience using GoSystem and/or CCH Pro Systems fx tax software

  • Experience using Bloomberg BNA tax research

This strategic opportunity will serve a key role in the growth of our energy practice in the Midwest and nationally by establishing and growing a client base and acquiring staff to support Tetra Tech's growth initiatives. This Senior Project Manager will provide strategic senior guidance for renewable and other energy infrastructure development. We are looking for an entrepreneurial and innovative leader to support the growth and diversity of our services as well as the expansion of our footprint in the Midwest and nationally. Tetra Tech's energy practice includes fossil fuel, onshore and offshore wind, solar and electric power generation, transmission lines and substations, natural gas transmission pipelines (FERC and non-FERC regulated), compressor stations, and other energy related facilities. This candidate will have primary responsibility for project management with execution and management of permitting and regulatory compliance associated with renewable and other energy infrastructure projects in the Midwest. Responsibilities: * The ideal candidate will have an understanding of and experience with federal, state, and local land use regulations, including NEPA and state renewable energy and environmental permitting processes * Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected * This Senior Project Manager will lead regulatory and permitting activities for a variety of energy infrastructure development projects * This Senior Project Manager will lead the preparation of county, state and federal land use permit applications, lead the development of environmental studies and resource analysis, and consult with county, state, and federal governmental bodies and agencies * This candidate will lead a team consisting of energy facility siting, routing, permitting, field surveys, GIS, public outreach as well as budget and project schedule tracking * Permitting and resource studies associated with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Public Service Commissions (PSC) and/or Public Utility Commissions (PUC) * A key role will be leading a team at compiling resource impact and mitigation plans in support of federal, state, and local permitting and agency requirements (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Bureau of Land Management, State Historic Preservation Office) * This Senior Project Manager will have demonstrated writing abilities, organizational skills, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office), possess the ability to act independently with project and task management roles, have a strong attention to detail, and a proven commitment to quality management, continuous improvement and client satisfaction * A key function of this role also involves direct interaction with agencies, clients, and with other Tetra Tech Program Managers, Project Managers and technical disciplines * The candidate will lead proposal development, development of scopes of work and costing efforts related to energy infrastructure siting and permitting Requirements: * Possess a B.S. or M.S. in a related field (i.e., Environmental Planning, Environmental studies, or a closely related discipline) * Minimum 10+ years of professional experience, including direct management of renewable energy sector environmental permitting projects * 10+ years' experience with environmental and regulatory processes - federal, state, and local regulators such as PUC, PSC, FERC, BLM, USFS, USFWS, and USACE as well as experience with NEPA * Working knowledge of federal and state regulations and permitting processes, ability to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, experience interacting with regulatory agencies * Experience with site permitting, route permitting, and conditional use permitting for renewable energy projects, midstream pipelines, substations and transmission lines * Relevant and reputable experience with renewable energy sector * Ability to travel approximately 10-20% for business reasons (project and business development) * Must be able to manage time well, lead and mentor junior staff, and work on tasks as part of a larger project team * Must be highly motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment * Role will involve leading the preparation of local, state, and federal permit applications; resource analysis; corridor identification; route refinement; agency consultation; and public outreach * Working knowledge in geographic information system; environmental impact analysis related to renewable energy and land management projects; agency consultation for regulatory compliance and permitting; biological resources mitigation design and monitoring planning; and construction monitoring is desirable * Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel. * Must be able to translate regulatory language into "plain English" terms to clearly communicate requirements to non-regulatory personnel * Demonstrated leadership capabilities, technical inquisitiveness, a positive attitude, and an ability to work well in teams are essential Other Desirable Knowledge and Requirement: * Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills; and attention to detail * Business development and client service management skills with a proven track record of developing project opportunities and maintaining successful client relationships; strong existing client relationships and professional contacts are highly desirable About Tetra Tech: Tetra Tech is a leading provider of high-end consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide.
