The Help Desk Technician will primarily be responsible for the monitoring, tracking and resolution of IT-related issues while escalating as necessary to the appropriate resource. This individual will be an active contributor to the Help Desk in a strong customer service focused role, will take ownership of tickets and will be able to see issues through to the end.

Position specific responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 and some Tier 2 IT support for 500+ end users

  • Actively maintain Help Desk ticket queue, ensuring a timely response to issues

  • Responsible for PC/Mac desktop and laptop computer configuration, deployments, and troubleshooting

  • Support enterprise POS systems and peripherals

  • Provide escalation point as necessary for Help Desk staff

  • Maintain and update inventory of hardware and software

  • Expected to work during standard business hours and maintenance/emergency windows outside of normal hours

Desired background:

  • Previous experience in a customer service role

  • Previous & demonstrable ability to troubleshoot technology quickly and efficiently

  • Degree not required but preferred

  • Certifications not required but definitely a plus

POSITION SUMMARY: Contract term expected to be 9 months We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join Halozyme as a Service Desk Technician to provide fast and accurate technical assistance for our internal end-users in the South San Francisco office. This position interfaces with all departments within the organization and will be responsible for front line technical support for our users. Join a growing team of IT professionals at Halozyme, reporting to the Associate Director of IT. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These may include but are not limited to: * Support and troubleshoot IT issues across multiple locations (via phone, email, or through team viewer) * Support Servicedesk team in managing tickets in Remedyforce * Image laptops and desktops * Install / Configure software and/or hardware for users * Setup/Configure/Troubleshoot client VPN * Troubleshoot Microsoft Office application issues * Troubleshoot network connectivity issues * Troubleshoot printer/scanner issues * Troubleshoot Windows issues * Troubleshoot web/video conferencing ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Triage incoming tickets to appropriate work queues * Update email distribution lists * Other duties as assigned EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * A minimum of 2 years experience performing IT Helpdesk/Service Desk at a biopharmaceutical company preferred (a combination of experience and education may be considered) * Working knowledge of managing Active Directory * Working knowledge of managing virtual machines * Fundamental understanding of network infrastructure * Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills cross-functionally TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Equipment: PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained. Knowledge of other hardware desired: Palo Alto firewall, Tegile SAN, Dell Laptops Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of other software and services desired: Okta, Office 365, VMWare, Sharepoint, RingCentral, Druva, Mimecast , Remedyforce INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: * All members of the organization including field based users EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
