IT Help Desk Technician

Location: Omaha, NE

Job Summary:

The Help Desk Technician is responsible for handling first level support of service requests for numerous locations of Green Plains Inc and subsidiary companies. This relates to all systems related technology, to include: workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor specific hardware and software.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • IT Support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft's Server and Desktop operating systems as well as Exchange administration.

  • Basic technical support at the network level: User setup/configuration, PC LAN connectivity, printing, email, and other user related items.

  • Basic remote access solution support: VPN and Terminal Services.

  • System documentation updating and maintenance.

  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.

  • Understanding of operating systems, business applications, printing systems, and network systems.

  • Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care.

  • Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately.

  • Service awareness of all organization's key IT services for which support is being provided.

  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment.

  • Flexible and resourceful in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Valid driver's license and able to travel.

  • Associates Degree or MCSA certification preferred.

  • 1-2 years of experience installing and servicing PC's in a business environment preferred.
