Metro Aviation has an opening for our Acadian AirMed program is opening based in Alexandria, LA, which means Metro Aviation is hiring Helicopter Air Ambulance Pilot (PIC, IFR)! This position is a full-time career opportunity, with a 7 shift on / 7 day off work schedule.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Total Flight Time = 2,000 hours

  • Total Pilot-In-Command = 1,000 hours PIC Rotorcraft.

  • Cross Country Flight Time= 500 hours

  • Night Flight Time= 100 hours, including 50 hours night unaided

  • Instrument Flight Time= 75 hours (50 in flight).

  • Turbine Helicopter = 500 hours

Qualifications

FAA Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft Certificate and Instrument Helicopter Rating (Airline Transport Pilot Rotorcraft Preferred)

  • FAA 2nd Class Medical (1st Class required as some locations)

Rotor Wing Desired Experience

  • Air Medical operations

  • Single Pilot IFR operations

  • Night Vision Goggle operations

Other Requirements

  • This location requires a maximum flight-ready weight of 210 lbs.

  • Most locations require residency within a prescribed distance from the assigned base.

Physical Requirements:

Requires activities requiring a moderate amount of standing, sitting and walking. Able to conduct activities requiring a moderate to rigorous amount of static pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting. Capable of lifting 75 lbs floor to bench height. Ability to hear routine aircraft noises. Maintains a "duty" weight (body weight + uniform/equipment helmet not included) for Rotor Wing (Helicopter) operations. Must be able to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit when requested. Requires close and distant visual capability (Class 2 Aviation Medical). Periodic hands to key ability (typing).

Fires gas boilers. Starts and stops pumps. Regulates water level. Reads gauges to check water level, steam pressure and operation of valves and auxiliary pumps. Performs preventive maintenance (oils motors, changes belts and filters, paints and cleans) on boilers and related equipment such as ventilating and refrigeration equipment, air conditioning machinery, generators, suction fans, pumps and compressors. Maintains a log book which details the operation of boilers and lists any maintenance work performed. Performs minor repairs on boilers and related equipment. Assists skilled workers in performing major repairs. Administers chemicals to hot/cold closed loop systems, cooling towers and boilers. 40% Maintenance of campus water system, by daily testing chlorine levels, documentation of these activities if a water certification is obtained by Operator. Preventive maintenance activities, inspection and recognition of necessary maintenance needs, documentation of those activities according to department policy and notification on any required repairs to the immediate supervisor. Must possess an EPA Certification if Freon is to be handled by Operator Monitor conditions in the environment for each building and documenting inspections per departmental policy. Assist experienced supervisor with campus high voltage work, this includes maintaining and Repairs. Computer skills is a plus. Supervisor will train to operate EMS/HVAC controls. Assist in related projects on the facility as assigned by the Utilities Director. Assist in maintaining and setting up sound system for campus events. Assist with repairs of LSUA Oaks apartment A/C and heating units. Contact Utilities Director when repairs or too complex for skillset and or require HVAC contractor. Assist with maintaining LSUA Museum HVAC system, air/filter change, belt tightening and replacement. Contact supervisor when repairs require HVAC contractor. May be required to work evenings, weekends and Holiday shifts as needed during boiler operations during the period of cold and freezing climate temperature's. Must make every effort to remain contactable by Utilities Director during off time period due to campus emergencies. Additional Job Description: Special Instructions:Operating Engineer Master QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of experience in the operation, repair and/or maintenance of large commercial or industrial type stationary engines or mechanical equipment such as air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, pumping, generating, chillers, or closely related systems. SUBSTITUTIONS: Training in commercial air conditioning, refrigeration or diesel mechanics will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis. NOTE: Incidental duties in operating or maintaining one's own heating, air conditioning or related equipment will not be considered as qualifying experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: For those positions in which incumbents will be working with and handling refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians will be required (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
