Available: Permanent position available with the 2024-2025 school year with some possible summer hours. Official start date will be August 26, 2024.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Connecticut Certification as a School Counselor
Master's Degree in School Counseling from an accredited college or university
Understanding and skills in applying restorative practices
Strong understanding of adolescent development
Experience in counseling students, including in crisis situations
Ability to tailor academic and behavioral interventions to meet individual student needs
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
Ability to interpret tests, student data and other appraisal results appropriately in the counseling environment
Is skillful at using the Google Suite of programs and Microsoft Excel to collect and analyze data
Adheres to ethical practices of the state and national professional counseling associations
Adheres to all Board of Education policies and procedures
Knowledge of a wide variety of appraisal instruments and techniques to enhance decision making and planning
Essential Functions:
Provides Multi-Tiered Systems of Support - social-emotional-behavioral and academic interventions
Collaborates with parents, administration, school support team, and teachers to develop individualized academic and behavioral plans
Works with students to establish academic goals, including goals related to homework completion, attendance and behavior
Uses evidence-based data collection system to monitor student growth
Facilitates lunch groups for students based upon needs
Works on transition teams for students entering and exiting Helen Keller Middle School
Serves as case manager for students with 504 plans
Works closely with special education teachers when students are referred for special services/testing
Conducts goal oriented counseling sessions (individual and group sessions)
Makes appropriate referrals to specialists
Provides intervention/support in crisis situations
Other duties as assigned
