About the Position:
This is a permanent Seasonal position.
During non-construction season incumbent may be subject to assignments on other phases of productive work depending on (1) needs of the organization; (2) individual ability; (3) requirement for utilization of personnel to a desirable degree; (4) the need for new and additional experience as required by operations. Is also subject to assignment where needed during high-water emergencies.
Work with journeyman mechanic on major repairs to engineer equipment as represented by dismantling and,
Replacing parts or components such as shafts, structural members and supports, gears, Pistons and rings, bearings, sheaves, clutches brakes axles and electrical systems.
Grinds valves, replaces switches, Points, condensers, coils, gaskets, bearings and spark plugs; cleans motors; adjust carburetors; and removes heads from engines.
Uses mechanic tools, heavy bars, Pipe wrenches, drills, saws rules, etc--.
Assist journeyman mechanic in making major repairs to internal combustion engines and heavy engineer equipment.
Changes tires on heavy trucks and construction type equipment.
Greases engineer equipment and changes oil in motors.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex duties of leading employees in the accomplishment of trades and labor work, I am skilled in the full range of journey mechanic work; which includes repairing, maintenance, general servicing, overhaul and modification of floating plant, heavy mobile equipment, automotive equipment, and other equipment such as cranes, trucks, gas and diesel powered tractors, drag lines, compressors and marine engines. Selecting proper tools used in repair of equipment.

Physical Efforts: Heavy lifting, climbing in, out, and around large pieces of equipment; operation and maintenance of heavy equipment; and using numerous and various types of repair tools and machinery.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside, subject to inclement weather, slippery decks, dirt and grease, metal chips, flammables, and danger from moving parts of machinery.
