$27.00 - $39.00 hourly
Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.
Applicants who hold an emission certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) will be placed within the specified range. Those who do not hold this certification by the time of hire will be subject to a 5% reduction in the salary offer until this license is obtained.

We Require
Two years of heavy-duty and off-road equipment mechanic experience
Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of Arizona
Must undergo drug and alcohol testing before employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout employment per County Policy and FTA Regulations
Must possess or can obtain the necessary emission certification license through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) within 90 days of hire to perform emissions testing and compliance activities; obtaining this certification is a condition of employment
Must possess the tools required to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment in an efficient manner

Job Contributions
Inspect, diagnose, adjust, replace, and perform complex and specialized repairs on heavy equipment with minimal supervision
Perform routine preventative maintenance: oil and filter changes, equipment inspections, and annual D.O.T. consults with supervisors on vehicle problems, diagnostic issues, and performance
Communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and other associated personnel
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the work area
Perform minor metal and material fabrication
Maintain accurate work records
Read and use applicable service manuals and diagnostic equipment on a computer
Other job duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
