JOB DESCRIPTION

We are a family-owned, century-old company and we need quality people to join our team. We have been in business since 1911, and are a full service heavy construction equipment dealer serving Kansas and western Missouri. We are currently recruiting for the following position in our Kansas City, Missouri, office.

Experience: Must have some background in Agriculture or Industrial/CE Background.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Responsible for financial profitability of the Service Dept.

Supervise full time technicians and ensure that they have the parts to complete the task.

Prepare written quotations for service repairs to customers and keep in frequent contact with them while their units are being repaired.

Represent the company in a clear, honest and ethical manner

Process shop work orders

Work with manufactures to negotiate warranty adjustments for equipment that is out of warranty.

Work cooperatively with the Parts Department staff to secure parts needs

Build relationships with external customers so that the company becomes the go-to source for customers service needs.

Call on higher profile customers at their location to drive business.

Create positive customer experiences to achieve continued sales growth in the Service Department.

As a 157 bed medical, surgical, and psychiatric facility, the Kansas City VA provides comprehensive health care through primary care and tertiary care in subspecialty medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation. Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the comprehensive technical support of diagnostic; Respiratory Therapy, Operating Room, Diagnostic and therapeutic Lasers, Anesthesia Apparatus, Gastro-Intestinal Laboratory, Surgical Instrumentation including Hyperthermia/Hypothermic Units, Elecro-Surgical Equipment and clinical computer networking, clinical service administration, multisystem interfacing and the security of informational software and hardware. This support will include maintenance, repair, calibration, installation, modification, design, inspection, evaluation and remedial user training as necessary, for the medical equipment and instrumentation. In addition, the incumbent maybe infrequently required to take responsibility for the repair and maintenance of other medical center clinical and diagnostic instrumentation as the situation requires. He/she performs duties of broad scope and complexity to analyze, develop, plan, certify, and correct system malfunctions on complex microprocessor based systems and its integral subsystems, which may in themselves be complex systems. (b) Skill in the setup and use of standard and advanced level test equipment to perform precise and detailed analysis of the operating and design characteristics of equipment and initiate repairs, reconfiguration, or redesign of moderately complex medical systems. (c) Skill in applying theory, concepts, techniques, design characteristics, operation, and functions to assist and support installation, operation, test, maintenance, repair, design, and modification for a comprehensive range of medical equipment connected to networks or other operating systems. (d) Ability to evaluate practical and technical information from manufacturers, contract specifications, manuals, and historical data in order to perform analysis required to make effective recommendations concerning operation, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment. Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist, GS-11 (Full Performance Level) * Experience: At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES), Net+ and A+ are highly desirable at this level but not required. * Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of a wide range of sciences including, but not limited to, electronics (analog and digital), computer science/networking, mechanical engineering design, pneumatics, hydraulics, chemistry, physiology, medical terminology, anatomy, optics, and biology to perform duties of a broad scope and nature on complex and sophisticated patient-related medical systems and sub-systems. (b) Ability to perform advanced testing and troubleshooting of medical devices involving their interfaces and connections to information systems either directly or through the hospitals hardwired and wireless networks. (c) Knowledge of codes and standards relevant to safe operation of medical instrumentation such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Joint Commission (TJC), and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-5 to GS-11. Physical Requirements: Technical, academic, and mental demands are high. The work performed is of a precise nature requiring prolonged concentration and must be able to lift and hold 40 (forty) pounds unassisted for the purpose of i.e. mounting, positioning, or removing equipment. The incumbent works under conditions of extreme stress caused by the nature of involved work. Incumbent must be able to interact effectively with all levels of medical center staff, and must remain calm and analytical even under stress.
