Construction Reports To: Site Supervisor/Foreman Job Summary: The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery used in the construction industry to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner.
This role involves operating equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders to perform tasks like excavation, grading, and earthmoving. Our client is forming a permanent and professional crew willing to travel to various job sites throughout the Southeastern United States. Per diem and incentives are available.
Key Responsibilities: Operation of Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate heavy construction equipment including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, graders, and other related machinery.
Operate Foundation Drills (Tacked and Truck Mounted) Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure optimal functionality. Site Preparation: Assist in the preparation of construction sites by clearing obstacles and debris.
Excavate, grade, and level surfaces according to project specifications. Project Execution: Follow project plans and instructions from supervisors to execute tasks such as digging trenches, backfilling, and loading materials.
Experience with Slurry Drilling, caisson installation and vertical rock removal. Collaborate with other team members to ensure coordinated project completion. Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. Conduct pre-operational checks and report any mechanical issues or hazards immediately. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, equipment usage, and project progress. Report any issues or delays to the site supervisor promptly. Communication: Communicate effectively with site supervisors, team members, and other stakeholders.
Provide updates on project status and any potential issues. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment.
Certifications: Valid heavy equipment operator certification or license as required by local regulations. Skills: Proficiency in operating various types of heavy machinery. Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and protocols.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Good communication and teamwork skills. Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments. Physical stamina and strength to operate heavy machinery for extended periods. Capability to lift and move heavy materials as needed.
Work Environment: Construction sites with potential exposure to loud noise, dust, and other environmental hazards. May require working overtime, weekends, and holidays depending on project deadlines.
