Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair heavy equipment to the proper standards
- Troubleshoot and repair fleet equipment
- Perform repairs in the field on active construction sites
- Possess knowledge of basic hydraulic systems and check systems for proper pressure settings and make necessary adjustments
- Have a basic understanding of hydraulic schematics and the ability to remove, repack, and replace hydraulic cylinders, replace hoses, and reseal control valves
- Evaluate equipment to determine needed and scope of repair work and work with the Service Manager
- Have a good understanding of power train, including the ability to inspect components and make decisions as to what repairs are needed
- Possess a thorough understanding of engines, including the ability to troubleshoot starting, charging, and fuel system problems and remove and replace external components as required
- Troubleshoot electrical systems while reading the manufacturer's electrical schematics and make proper repairs without circumventing the manufacturer's original wiring configuration
- Maintain a positive attitude towards safety and the ability to work safely
- Be available for overtime and Saturday work when required
Requirements:
- Degree in Technical Field or equivalent work experience
- Seven years of experience in the repair or application of heavy equipment
- Good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, engine, and electrical systems utilized in the manufacture of heavy construction equipment
- Basic understanding of hydraulic schematics, a good understanding of power train, and a thorough understanding of engines
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Self-starter and motivated person
