HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
St. Louis Composting, producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends, is seeking a safety conscious Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team at our site in Belleville, IL. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts, such as bearings, pistons, and gears; In addition, the mechanic will overhaul and test major components, such as engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect, repair, adjust and/or replace defective or worn equipment components.
Cleaning, lubricating, inspecting and conducting routine services.
Orders parts, communicates status and annotates corrective actions.
Comfortable working in a sometimes fast paced environment while maintaining flexibility.
Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for each task.
Performing major repair work when required.
Must present a neat and professional appearance.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Possesses a valid US driver's license and your own tools (Specialty tools provided).
Experience repairing Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo equipment to include wheeled loaders, and tracked equipment.
2 years of experience with stick welding & wire welding and fabrication.
Able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
Experience with grinders, screeners and conveyors is a plus.
