About the Role

As a Traveling Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a variety of heavy machinery used in construction projects. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all equipment meets safety and operational standards. You will travel to different project sites, supporting diverse construction efforts and ensuring minimal downtime and enhanced productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on dozers, excavators, cranes, and other heavy equipment.

• Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and safety.

• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot problems.

• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.

• Travel to various project sites to provide mechanical support and ensure equipment is operating efficiently.

• Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to prioritize repairs and maintenance tasks.

• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; degree or certificate in a heavy equipment mechanic program is preferred.

• 5-10 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

• Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.

• Proficiency in the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and engines.

• Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in the repair of motorized vehicles and equipment.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history; CDL license preferred.

• Ability and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Certifications in heavy equipment maintenance and repair are highly preferred.
