We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team!
Support compliance services/operations in all aspects of the business. The Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, assisting in refurbishing and repairing all spill response and marine related equipment. Must be able to be on-call as needed for emergency response, land service and maritime contracts or projects, within DOT requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Execution of fieldwork encompassed in marine services, industrial cleaning, emergency spill response and site cleanup projects while under supervision.
Diagnose and repair all marine related equipment.
Safely operate various marine equipment as needed Diesel power packs skimmers, small/large vessels currently in fleet.
Manage and input information to preventive maintenance schedule for NRC response equipment.
Perform confined space work inside tanks of varying dimensions; involving squatting and crawling for possible extended periods.
Understand and comply with company and client safety standards.
Perform heavy lifting and carrying (up to 75 pounds); use of hand tools, power tools, bending, stooping, shoveling and other physically demanding tasks daily.
Follow all purchasing guidelines and obtain multiple quotes when obtaining outside services.
Setup and deploy various equipment during trainings and actual responses.
Responsible for DOT semi-trailers and cargo trailers.
Input information into NRC computer maintenance program (GOS).
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Requires High School or GED (equivalent reading, writing and reasoning skills).
3-5 years of experience performing directly related work (diesel engine, pumps, hydraulic, marine repair, emergency response, general construction, industrial cleaning).
Ability to travel up to 75% for extended periods of time.
Must be able to complete the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, 48-hour MTR certification, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher certificates and any/all other related training that may be required.
Maintain an MVR that meets company policy standards. Must have own tools.
Ability to work under a compressed time schedule to repair equipment as needed.
Comprehension of common danger placards/labels and hazardous warning literature, including safety plans.
Ability to perform work under sustained hours, uncomfortable weather conditions and rough terrain.
Must be clean shaven to allow for immediate donning of respirator and not wear jewelry that may be of safety concern (earrings, bracelets etc.) and impede in safe operation of equipment.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search as well continued verifications throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.
