Job Summary: The Field Engineer will play an essential role in supporting on-site construction operations.
This position involves assisting project managers and superintendents with daily tasks, including surveying, quality control, and document management. The Field Engineer will ensure that project specifications and safety standards are met, contributing to the successful and timely completion of each project. Key Responsibilities:
Field Support: Assist with on-site activities such as surveying, layout, and alignment to ensure project specifications are met. Quality Control:
Monitor and inspect construction work to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety regulations. Identify and address any quality issues proactively. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, RFIs, and submittals. Report regularly on project status and provide updates to project managers. Technical Support:
Work with project managers and superintendents to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical data. Provide solutions to address project challenges. Scheduling Assistance:
Assist in planning and scheduling work sequences to ensure timely project completion. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain the project schedule. Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all field activities adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards. Participate in safety meetings and conduct job hazard analyses as needed. Change Management:
Document and track project changes, including scope adjustments, field modifications, and design changes, to ensure accurate cost and schedule impacts. Surveying & Layout: Utilize surveying equipment to perform layout and alignment of various structures and utilities, providing accurate measurements and adjustments as required.
Material Coordination: Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment necessary for on-site activities. Qualifications: Experience: 1-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction, ideally in a field engineer or similar role.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD, Bluebeam) and familiarity with survey equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS). Knowledge of Regulations:
Familiarity with construction safety standards and regulations, especially related to heavy civil infrastructure. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess technical information and find practical solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in surveying, documentation, and layout to ensure project requirements are precisely met.
