Job Summary:

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn a specialized skill within a manufacturing environment? Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is looking to train new employees with that desire to become our next employees in Heat Treat.

The Metal Treating Specialist Trainee program is a paid program designed to provide a unique learning experience for highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing and learning new skills. Positions may be available on all shifts after training on 1st shift for 4-6 weeks at the facility.

Upon completion of the program, individuals will be responsible for:

  • Set up, operation and adjustment heat-treat equipment to perform carburizing, cycle annealing and die quenching of gears

Physical Qualifications (With or Without Accommodation)

  • Will work in environment that has extreme temperatures

  • Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures

  • Stand for a minimum of 8 hour shifts

  • Frequent walking, bending, reaching

  • Occasional stooping, crouching, and climbing

  • Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling rotating

  • Required Personal Protective Equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed/metatarsal foot gear, and protective clothing and equipment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Strong commitment to safety at all times

  • Excellent attitude and willingness to learn

  • Ability to work any shift

  • Relocation assistance is not offered for this position
