Job Role Summary

Responsibilities for this position are to provide technical guidance for heat exchanger design, operation, troubleshooting, optimization, monitoring and reliability improvements across the global fleet for ExxonMobil businesses. The location of this job is the ExxonMobil campus located in Spring, TX. This position can include field assignments at ExxonMobil manufacturing plants, Engineering Contractor offices, Regional Engineering offices, and includes domestic and international travel.

Primary Job Functions Include

  • Providing support to facilities across Refining, Chemicals, and Upstream businesses

  • Applying emerging heat exchanger technology at ExxonMobil facilities

  • Providing quality control of heat exchanger design to ExxonMobil Capital Projects globally

  • Conducting heat exchanger R&D (e.g., identifying, evaluating and adapting new technology for business needs)

  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of analysis tools, standards, and recommended practices associated with heat exchanger equipment.

  • Involvement in the development or modification of engineering standards affecting the Heat Exchanger Equipment discipline

Primary Job Requirements

  • Strong technical skills in design and troubleshooting of heat exchangers

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong analytical and heat transfer engineering skills

  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills used in the development of standards and reports

  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Willing and able to take out-of-office work assignments

  • A B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (M.S. or higher preferred)

  • A minimum 5 years of relevant experience, at least 10 years of experience preferred

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience supporting Refining and/or Petrochemical facilities

  • Experience designing a wide variety of heat exchanger types (e.g. shell and tube, airfin, plate & frame, etc.)

  • Expertise in fouling of heat exchangers in Refining and Petrochemical processes

  • Has participated in Industry Committees and development of Industry Standards

  • Expert using HTRI with some familiarity with Process Simulation (PROII, HYSYS, etc.)

VIEW JOBS 4/6/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-05T00:00 General Summary The Heat Trace & Insulation Coordinator is primarily responsible for reviewing heat trace & insulation (HT&I) requirements for every project coming through Assembly. They will be responsible for coordinating with Engineering and procurement to ensure that the piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) clearly indicates the intent of the project engineer and can be understood by the assigned vendor. They will also work with procurement and the assigned HT&I vendor to schedule the work and ensure it is completed successfully according to the project schedule. Principle Duties & Responsibilities Ability to read and understand P&IDs. Review HT&I requirements and ensure that proper duration is included in the schedule. Collaborate with procurement and the vendor to plan expected start date for HT&I activities. Communicate with Assembly and Paint Supervisors on project status and adjust vendor schedules as necessary. Coordinate HT&I vendor activities and status of work completion. Act as a conduit between Engineering and the vendor to clarify any confusion or conflicting information on the P&ID. Complete an inspection of the finished product to ensure completeness, quality and cleanup. Record and report any deficiencies for correction by the appropriate department. Review final product after any corrections and signoff on GPS traveler prior to release to shipping. Job Specifications High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum of 1 - 2 years' of relevant experience in an industrial environment required. Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and engineering documentation (P&IDs). Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information. Must have very effective organizational skills. Effective listening, written and verbal communications skills. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel Work under very limited supervision. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required. Working Conditions Industrial environment. May spend up to 50% of daily time in the shop and/or yard.
