Comments and Other Information

We are on a mission to transform the lives of students! Sweetwater Secondary School (SSS) is a free public school option, serving students in grades 6-12 who seek an alternative learning experience to the traditional school setting.

Repeatedly recognized for its quality instructional program, high-caliber teaching and strong operational performance, SSS seeks to redefine how teachers teach and students learn. Our standards and expectations are high as we prepare our students for the future. Together-teacher, parent, and student-we can guide our students to achieving great academic success and accomplishing the goals each has identified as their own.

SSS is an educational option for students in grades 6-12. Its instructional design is based on a "University Model." Students work independently and attend classes, labs, or tutorials 1-2 times/wk. Students come at scheduled times; no more than 20 students on site at a time.

The learning environment, located in resource centers throughout the city, is professional, clean, safe and well-equipped with curriculum resources, teacher & student laptops, desktop computers, wireless networks, and high-speed T-1 Internet access in each resource center. SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selected applicants will be interviewed by a panel of School Administrators and will complete a work-styles/behavior survey.

Candidates who successfully complete this phase of process will be interviewed by the Deputy Superintendent School Services and the Superintendent School Services and Founder. MORE INFO: Visit our website https://sweetwatersecondarycharter.com/ NOTE:

Applications are considered ONLY for this school, and NOT for other charter schools within SD City Schools nor schools within the county. Sweetwater Secondary School strives to: --Operate an economically successful "business" and ensure that there are adequate resources available to meet the needs of our students. --Select people on the basis of skill, training, ability, attitude, and character without discrimination with regard to age, gender, color, race, creed, religion, political belief, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, health condition, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions. --Review wages, and working conditions continually with the objective of providing maximum benefits in these areas, consistent with sound business practices. --Dedicate ourselves to accountability and continuous improvement. --Develop competent people who understand and meet our objectives, and who accept with open minds the ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticisms of fellow employees. --Respect individual rights and treat all employees with courtesy and consideration. --Do all these things in a spirit of friendliness and cooperation so that SSS will continue to be known as "a great place to work!" Resume will not be accepted in lieu of application. We apply the same process for selecting staff.

Key components of the process include: paper screening, team interview, work-style behaviors survey, director/manager interview, extensive background checks and reference checks. We may call any person listed as a reference and/or any former supervisors on your application. We do not invite all applicants to interview.

We do not hire everyone who applies, and we do not discuss our hiring decisions with applicants. Equal Employment Opportunity No person working at SSS or applying for work, is to be discriminated against in employment or application for employment or subjected to harassment in the work environment because of potential parental, family, or marital status or the exclusion of any person because of pregnancy or related conditions, age, gender, color, race, creed, national origin, religion, marital status, ancestry, health condition or sexual orientation.
