DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES is seeking a Physical Education teacher. The successful candidate will be able to provide (adaptive) physical education to students ages 3-21 with varying ability levels.

REQUIRED:

  • NYSED Certification: Physical Education is required.

  • Experience working with students who have disabilities and who require the use of adaptive equipment as well as modifications of all activities.

  • Experience with behavior modification and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.

  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet the individualized needs of students.

  • Knowledge and experience using the Next Generation Learning Standards for Physical Education.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with students with learning/behavior/social/emotional needs.

  • Strong skills in differentiated instruction/specially designed instruction.
