About this Opportunity

As a Strategic Accounts Manager I, you'll be accountable for achieving/exceeding revenue, profit, and market share growth objectives, inclusive of the full Herman Miller family of companies, for targeted strategic accounts in an assigned territory. You will serve as a key contact with customers to develop and establish productive relationships with decision-makers, influencing them by using selling skills to discover/diagnose their needs and deliver world-class solutions.

  • Hold accountability for achieving assigned goals for sales, orders, shipment volumes, new business, and margin percentage.

  • Build and maintain key relationships and present a positive image of Herman Miller companies in the marketplace.

  • Conduct all sales activities and processes within the parameters of the Herman Miller companies' processes by strategically utilizing corporately-provided tools and resources.

  • Develop and execute a business plan for new and existing accounts and guide relationships with end users, A D firms, and dealers associated with these accounts.

  • Develop and grow assigned strategic accounts in the local market.

  • Effectively manage client situations to a positive result, anticipating problems, working with key internal constituents, and developing contingency plans.

  • Effectively partner and engage with distribution and commercial partners within their Market Sales Area (Metropolitan Statistical Area - MSA).

  • Guide the strategy for assigned accounts to achieve volume goals through the development and maintenance of long-term relationships with select customers, ensuring long-term customer satisfaction.

  • Keep current with the account through research to identify possible trigger events to penetrate the account.

  • Manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) information appropriately, provide timely reporting as needed, and manage assigned expense and program budgets.

  • Network and manage communication between leadership, dealers, and Field Sales, Marketing, Contracts, and Customer Care Teams.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

  • Protect the account from the competition by understanding the competition's position and strategies.

  • Provide insight into new trends and modes of work that will make a case for change or help customers realize a need (demand generation).

  • Respond to and support opportunities within the account.

  • Spend over 75 percent of the time in the field calling on customers, partnering with Territory Sales and dealers to grow relationships, and developing/managing business plans (including necessary overnight travel).

  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent level of experience will also be considered.

  • At least two years of successful contract/capital goods selling and account management experience (preferred).

  • Some knowledge of Herman Miller Healthcare products, services, and culture, as well as the ability to distinguish Herman Miller Healthcare products and services from the competition.

  • Selling skills, including account penetration, strategic selling, conceptual selling, issues-based selling, consultative selling, negotiation, and contracts.

  • The ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate and negotiate.

  • The ability to be a strong team player and an assertive self-starter with the self-confidence and ability to represent Herman Miller in a professional manner in order to gain a high level of confidence from a diverse group of customers.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment at all levels of the organization, and the ability to build long-term effective relationships with customers and partners.

VIEW JOBS 1/21/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-20T00:00 What you will do On-site project leader to plan, execute, and control Maintenance and Services (M&S) projects with assigned customers. Responsible for following consistent and repeatable project management process and procedures. Ensures that assigned projects are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget and within scope of contract. Maintains an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results. Actively pursues selling change orders. Coordinates communication with the customer during all phases of the project. Ensures proper execution of warranty. Provides work direction to subcontractors, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. Ensures Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards including JCFS Safety programs and US Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements. Location: Balboa Naval Medical Center (military experience not required). Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment Vacation: Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation per calendar year How you will do it 1. Acts as the primary on-site leader for execution teams on assigned projects. Develops project schedules and executes according to plan for assigned projects. 2. Evaluates the contractual scope of work. Actively pursues additional work through change orders. Helps prepare and approves cost estimates, contract terms & conditions, and technical responses to client requests for bid/proposals. Communicates both technical and business related issues with the clients. 3. Manages the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned. May request several bids in pricing process. Responsible for approving subcontractor payments. Coordinates all subcontractor work thru JCFS Procurement who secures pricing and availability from outside vendors and suppliers, mechanical and electrical subcontractors including scope, terms and conditions, as well as, oversee billing processes. 4. Ensures mechanics and subcontractors complete typical HVAC Preventative and Correction Maintenance actions using established standards. Provides detailed information to communicate the service being accomplish and completion criteria to customers. 5. Ensures control technicians complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers. Validates complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Provides accurate project as- build and commissioning documentation. 6. Completes project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client. Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow. 7. Analyzes financial reporting system and project schedule to proactively address potential problems. Effectively communicates the status of projects to management as required and provides monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin. 8. Manages risk and establishes project recovery plans, when required. Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation. 9. Ensures project document controls/deliverables are in compliance with contract requirements and JCI Standards 10. Sends warranty info to JCI customer and ensures proper execution of warranty. 11. Develops project plans and coordinates the required resources to ensure tasks are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract. 12. Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required. 13. Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety. What we look for Required 1. Bachelor's Degree. Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management or related degree field preferred. 2. Management experience with projects related to maintenance and service (O&M). 3. Five (5) or more years experience working in a hospital, large medical center, or similar healthcare environment. Experience with maintenance management in this environment strongly preferred 4. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience. 5. Strong personal computer working capabilities in MS Office (excel, word, powerpoint). 6. Experience in dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different disciplines 7. The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.) Preferred 1. Experience with maintenance management for a healthcare facility 2. Management experience with projects related to HVAC controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) management. 3. HVAC systems and mechanical experience strongly preferred 4. Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems. 5. Prior experience reading and interpreting government contracts strongly preferred. 6. PMP certification or some PMP course training preferred. 7. Experience working with NFPA, EPA, TJC, OSHA codes and standards.
