We are seeking a Health Information Management Supervisor to remotely support our Veteran Affairs Operations in the San Dimas, CA area.

What part would you play in this role?

The Healthcare Information Management (HIM) Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of up to 20 employees that analyzes and organizes pertinent records for use in medical assessment services. This position must ensure that their team identifies and label medical and non-medical documents and also prepares electronic documents for physician review.

In this rewarding role, you will:

  • Oversees the HIM Technicians to ensure accurate and timely preparation of pertinent records for use in medical assessment services

  • Analyze, review and exports data for daily reports and distribution

  • Responsible for all workflows related to department practices

  • Support team members, as needed, on the following HIM Technician duties:

  • Analyze and organize pertinent records for use in medical assessment services.

  • Reads, examines and identifies treatment records, progress notes, and other

documentations relative to specific medical and/or psychological conditions listed by claimants

  • Utilizes Adobe Acrobat software

  • Identifies listed medical or psychological conditions, including all related conditions or triggers, and electronically index each according to their medical specialty

  • Follows document management practices consistent with organizational policies and procedures, and appropriate for the type of service request

  • Ensures that electronic files are ready for physicians in a timely manner to facilitate completion of services as scheduled

  • Sets goals for the HIM Technicians and monitors/communicates performance with an aim towards continuous improvement

  • Participates in ongoing educational and/or training activities as required

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced changing environment

  • Proven success in meeting strict deadlines

  • Ability to effectively lead a team

  • Ability to execute and delegate multiple tasks efficiently and effectively

  • Ability to operate a computer, multi-line business phone, copy machine, high-speed production grade

scanner, and fax

  • Ability to effectively utilize Windows OS, Microsoft EDGE browser and Adobe

Acrobat document creation software

  • Ability to understand, follow, develop, and implement policies, procedures, and verbal instructions

You Must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting, or related field from an accredited college, or equivalent

experience/combined education

  • 5 years of prior relevant experience

  • 2 of those years must be in Supervisory/Leadership

  • ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE with EXCEL, creating reports, and data analyis is required.

  • Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation

Highly preferred:

  • Experience in a production/metrics environment

  • Significant experience working in a medical, insurance, or call center

Typical Day:

  • Training period with a mentor/auditor up to 90 days: 7:00 am
  • 3:30 pm up to 90 days.
  • Regular schedule: Start time of 7:00am
  • 8:30am PST
  • This is a remote position, however, candidates must reside within commutable distance to San Dimas, CA.

Pay Range

  • Annual Pay Range: $81,091.14 - $99,111.39

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
