Information Delivery provides expertise and analysis needed to support the business in making comprehensive decisions for healthcare cost and quality improvement. As a key member of the Information Delivery team, the Healthcare Data Specialist supports the business with consultation and analysis using health care data.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Support business owners through consultation
Partner with internal customers to define business needs, issues, and translate ideas into effective strategies and action plans
Effectively communicate and provide explanations of complex information with a broad range of customers and non-technical audiences
Establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the corporation to support department, division and BCBST corporate goals and objectives. This may include (but is not limited to):
Helping others better understand key metrics
Identifying areas/populations to target for intervention
Analyzing data to understand how best to impact outcomes
Work independently with limited supervision and complete various projects thoroughly, accurately and timely as assigned by management
Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines among multiple concurrent projects, project teams, and or management staff
May conduct presentations/training to provide end users with domain specific knowledge
Work with internal customers to solve complex problems
Work with internal customers to document business requirements and business rules to develop reports and dashboards
Gain experience in understanding the lifecycle of health care data from source to target, including a comprehensive understanding of how the business uses the data
Bachelor's Degree in any field + 4 years of experience OR Master's Degree with 2 + years of experience
Quantitative/research discipline preferred (e.g., Biostatistics, Biology, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Information Systems)
Four (4+) or more years of experience in analytics, reporting, and data utilizing industry standard tools required
Four (4+) or more years of experience working in a managed care setting is preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills (including presentation and team facilitation) required
Solid organizational and interpersonal skills are required
Strong analytical skills with understanding of basic statistics and algebra required
Highly proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint is required
Understanding of project management techniques; preferably those that involve multiple business stakeholders is preferred
Working knowledge of at least one Database Query Language such as SAS or SQL is preferred
Experience utilizing industry recognized quality tools is preferred
