Our Healthcare Data Analyst partners with CHAMPS Oncology leadership, programmers, Certified Tumor Registrars and customers to analyze cancer program and registry data, understand client goals and leverage our data to uncover metrics to support program initiatives and ensure a return on investments.

The analyst will manage data requests from clients, understand customer information needs in order to generate additional reporting related to their initiatives and proactively mine the data for insightful information guided by current cancer trends. The position analyzes, interprets and visualizes data and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, report writing and analyzing data flows for improvement opportunities.

This position requires strong concern for quality and accuracy of work with a results-oriented focus. The work involves critical and technical thinking and problem solving based on detailed knowledge of all pertinent facts and thorough analysis of relevant details.

There is an intense focus on complex, independent problem solving, self-direction and freedom of ideas. The position allows for creative thinking of new ideas and innovative problem solving. The position also provides opportunities for the development of high levels of expertise and independent work.

Essential Functions

Responsible for turning data into insight that informs, identifies trends, answers questions and provides recommendations to customers about their cancer program

Generates reports/queries, including writing maintaining and supporting a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assists in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.

Facilitates brainstorming and data analysis sessions with key stakeholders designed to address insights found in their data

Participate in client interviews and meetings to understand their cancer program and develop a customized analytics plan

Interprets results using a variety of techniques from simple data aggregation to complex statistical analysis

Reviews reports for quality and accuracy including working with technical staff on data validation activities

Compares data from different sources to draw conclusions and influence decision makers

Understands and uses qualitative/quantitative measurement and data collection design principles.

Utilizes superior analytical skills with emphasis on computer database, spreadsheet, statistical program use and problem solving

Collaborates with functional and technical staff to meet customers goals

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding customers expectations and consistently adheres to customer service standards

The ability to focus on complex problem solving techniques and generate innovative ideas

Utilizes interpersonal skills when working with various customers and peers to accomplish goals. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

The individual in this position must maintain a professional demeanor and make sound, well thought-out decisions.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, informatics, information management or related field

3-5 years experience in working with healthcare data management - Cancer information management experience highly desired

Proficient in business intelligence tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau)

Understanding of all 3 areas of data analytics- Descriptive (data mining and business intelligence), Predictive (forecasting), and prescriptive (optimization and simulation)

SQL experience a plus

Oversees analytic activities and is able to present this work through a variety of communication methods including group presentations, reports and summaries. The Senior Analyst is directly responsible for managing the hospital Volume Statistics program including operations and reports. Essential Functions : Supports the hospital Volume Statistics program including data collection, monthly and custom reports, and the development of new data metrics and definitions based on hospital member input. Develops trend and other customized reports as part of the program communication strategies to the hospital members. Supports a variety of related hospital member data programs including the hospital economic impact survey, community benefit and other surveys/reports as identified by hospital members or the organzation. Works closely with the hospital data coordinators and operations staff to support program operations including changes and growth within the the Volume Statistic program. Familiarity seeking and working with a variety of databases including information generated from hospitals and other health care facilities; and state and national organizations. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred * 5 years working knowledge in data collection and analysis; database management, outcomes or with a Master’s degree, minimum 3 years of experience measurement and evaluation * Sound knowledge of hospital healthcare operations or related experience in a health care field * Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative style and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels * Excellent writing and presentation skills * A creative thinker with the intellectual ability to new identify new insights within data * Proficient in Microsoft Office and in data analysis programming language (either SAS, SPSS, or R) and database analysis languages (e.g. SQL) Desirable Qualifications * Knowledge of hospital finance and reimbursement or public/community health data driven programs * Experience with programming online questionnaires (e.g., Qualtrics, Sawtooth) * Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) * Proficiency in multivariate analyses, including predictive modeling * Working knowledge of real-time advanced analytics (AI, NLP) Are you a returning applicant?
