The Community College of Denver is seeking a part-time Instructor to begin facilitating in the Colorado Health Careers Academy in the Summer 2024 semester.
The Academy introduces students to health careers in Colorado and the educational & career pathways available to them in this industry. Courses will be scheduled for 6 weeks on Fridays at the Auraria and/or Lowry campuses.
Under the supervision of the program's Project Coordinator, instructors will prepare materials, facilitate icebreakers and discussions, manage classroom behavior, keep attendance for the classes, provide mid-term and final progress reports, attend a graduation ceremony for Colorado Health Careers Academy graduates, and perform other duties as assigned.
The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.
This is a temporary, non-exempt hourly position. This position may work up to 28 hours each week and up to 9 months, depending on need and budget availability.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (required/minimum)
Experience in healthcare or experience teaching in healthcare or related field
Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration, and time-management skills
Demonstrated ability to interact with and develop relationship with individuals of diverse populations, including varying social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff members, students, and administrators and be able to be productive in time-sensitive and at times, high-pressured situations.
Experience: (preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related subfield
Experience providing programming or teaching high school students or young adults
Experience developing summer youth or young adult programs
Experience teaching allied health courses
