Position Summary:Coordinates and performs the receptionist role and coordinates all non-clinical functions on a clinical unit. Accountable to the Registered Nurse.* Communicates effectively with patient, visitors and health care team. * Serves as gatekeeper for physician and nursing orders into the Patient Computer System (Electronic Medical Record (EMR). * Coordinates scheduling of diagnostic procedures and outpatient appointments. * Assists with patient flow and patient safety * Maintains patient charts. * Operates nursing unit equipment: pneumatic tube system, intercom system, fax machine, computer, printer and multi-line telephone. * Plans and executes a daily routine for performance of non-clinical tasks for the Nursing Unit.Position Qualification:
High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by The National Association of Health Unit Coordinators preferred.Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and have excellent organizational skills. Health Unit Coordinator (Unit Secretary) experience preferred. Health related experience required.
