Health Unit Clerk, Emergency Department (Contingent)

Supports nurses by assuming responsibility for direct and indirect patient care. Collects patient data then identifies and reports significant findings to the nurse. Monitors the overall appearance of the lobbies and entrances. Assists and directs patients regarding the registration process and Hospital procedures. Communicates professionally and appropriately at all times with staff, patients, and visitors. Serves as a liaison between patients, staff and other departments. Cross-trained to meet departmental needs.

Requirements Completion of high school education supplemented with coursework or experience which evidences basic knowledge of patient care techniques (i.e. currently enrolled in nursing or other related medical field and/or proven competency based qualifications of PCT II. BLS certification is required.
