This position serves as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at the Cheyenne River Service Unit. The purpose of the position is to perform basic technical health care extender functions within the emergency medical arena in response to various accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illness.
The incumbent will also be responsible for performing Nursing Assistant and driver duties. Position is subject to "Stand By" duty and will be required to rotate to all shifts.

GS-04: 6 months of general experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter of the position to be filled AND 6 months of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-03 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement.
Examples of Specialized Experience: Nursing assistant duties, basic skill with emergency and patient transport, knowledge and skill in emergency medical techniques; Conducting equipment and supply checks at start of each assigned shift; Vehicle safety and maintenance inspections; OR completed 2 years of education above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position OR a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-04 grade level.
GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement.
Examples of Specialized Experience: Nursing assistant duties, skill in emergency communication techniques, working knowledge of topographic anatomy and the major body parts; Identifies and treats trauma/medical emergencies using knowledge and skill in emergency medicine techniques, employee identifies the signs and symptoms of life-threatening and non-life-threatening medical and trauma injuries;
completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in Emergency Medical Services, or that included at least 24 semester hours in EMT-related courses OR I have successfully completed pertinent specialized training courses in EMT, while serving in the Armed Forces which is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience.
