Perform various duties to assess work practices and environmental conditions for hazards to the health and safety of workers. Generally, work is auxillary to supervising industrial hygienist.
Environmental conditions involve a variety of hazard, chemical, noise, heat, actinic rays, ionizing and non ionizing radiation, and other environmental physical agents.
Assigned work includes a variety of conventional industrial shops, production areas, laboratories, confined areas, and outdoor work sites and include significant functions involved in heavy industrial operation.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

This position requires a valid state driver's license to transport him/her and testing/survey equipment to and between work-sites where surveys are conducted.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Qualifications for the GS-09 specialized experience is defined as: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which include identifying and evaluating conditions inside and outside the workplace that may affect employee health; operating and maintaining field and laboratory instruments; assisting with industrial hygiene investigations and work-site sampling reviews. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08.
Qualifications for the GS-08 specialized experience is defined as: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting in performing inspections and recognizing potential health hazards by utilizing industrial hygiene concepts, principles, policies and practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07.]
Qualifications for the GS-07 specialized experience is defined as: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes industrial hygiene concepts, principles, policies and practices to perform independent inspections and the ability to recognize potential health hazards
