Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Obtain vitals and measures and check clients in HMS per guidelines.

  • Assist nurse and medical provider in clinic as needed.

  • Properly label and pack all lab specimens for transport to lab.

  • Perform testing as instructed.

  • Scan client records into client electronic record as needed in a timely manner per guidelines.

  • Assure all exam rooms are organized, clean and stocked with up-to-date supplies.

  • Perform routine inventory of supplies and orders and receives supplies per guidelines.

  • Maintains a up-to-date inventory ordering sheet.

  • Calibrates all CLIA equipment and maintains logs.

  • Oversees Biohazard Waste program for clinic per guidelines.

  • Completes annual review of Lab with Lab Director.

  • Download vaccine refrigerator and freezer temps for all clinic sites.

  • Performs monthly vaccine inventory.

  • Serves as Lab Coordinator, responsible for all lab error and issuance management.

  • Answers phone and triages calls..

  • Register and schedule client appointments per guidelines in HMS and FL Shots.

  • Participates in community events to promote clinical services when requested.

  • Participates in NCHD committee meetings when requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to collect correct client information in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work effectively with a health care team and maintain an effective working relationship with others.

  • Ability to perform tasks common to their paraprofessional position.

  • Ability to recognize the limitation of one's own knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to recognize areas of their own practice in need of improvement.

  • Ability to teach other staff in the theory and practice of their position.

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication and ability to apply them.

  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively carry out work assignments.

  • Knowledge of clinic clerical practices, policies and procedures and the ability to apply them.

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • Certified as a CNA or MA.

  • Experience at Florida Department of Health as Health Support Tech in clinical setting

  • High School graduate

Preferred

  • Experience at Florida Department of Health as Health Support Tech in Family Planning Clinics
