Position Summary

As the Health Services Research Unit Supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall administration of the Health Services Research Unit within OHI, including the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all elements of the unit. Additional duties include:

  • Providing direct supervision and technical guidance to a unit of professional research staff,

  • Establishing and implementing program objectives and priorities,

  • Recommending the resources necessary to carry out the Unit's responsibilities,

  • Maintaining relationships with internal and external partners to use public health data for informed decisions.

  • Responsibility for oversight of projects funded by the CDC and other organizations,

  • Marketing the analytic and dissemination work produced by the unit and advancing data visualization and reporting.

  • Working closely with partners to implement public health informatics and data standards across different datasets.

Additionally, you will work with Division and Office leadership and partners to provide analytics and data dissemination to inform public health decision making. You will work in close collaboration with the other units in the section, promoting consultation and partnerships, as well as collaborating on the maintenance and management of the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with other Divisions and Departments.

Salary Information

The starting pay for this position is between $48.50 and $51.85 per hour (approximately between $100,800 and $107,800 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 24-month Career Executive trial period is required.

Pay for current or former employees is set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Research Administrator and is in pay schedule and range 81/02.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

For positions that do allow remote working flexibility, although residency in the State of WI is not required for permanent positions, it is not anticipated that working outside of WI or bordering cities will be allowed as positions may at times need to report to office locations in WI on short notice.

Employee-provided secure high-speed internet is required for remote work options. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g., hiring, discipline, resolving conflict, conducting performance evaluations, delegating work responsibilities, monitoring staff capacity and workload, etc.)

  • Experience in data analytics, epidemiology, demography, or survey administration.

  • Experience using programming languages and tools for querying, analyzing or visualizing data (e.g., R, Python, SQL, Tableau, etc.)

Well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with program management (e.g., development of annual work plans, program evaluation, resource allocation, budgeting, etc.)

  • Experience with public health data analytics (e.g., collecting, cleaning, analyzing or interpreting data from multiple sources).

  • Experience using public health data to help inform data-driven decision making (e.g., leveraging a variety of statistical analysis, data dissemination, data visualization, etc.)
