JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a health services consultant working in the Sentinel Events Unit, you will ensure compliance with mandatory reporting of sentinel events by hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, dialysis centers and intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will assist the Sentinel Events Manager in all aspects of the Sentinel Events program, including reviewing cases, determining if cases meet sentinel event criteria, reviewing medical records, assessing root cause analyses to ensure that they are thorough and credible, and providing technical assistance as requested. Additionally, you will be responsible for drafting the quarterly sentinel event newsletter, assist in coordinating learning collaboratives and making formal presentations as requested. This position works under limited supervision

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Maine and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of nursing and/or in the delivery of health care services.
Preferred candidates will have:
o Experience working in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers or other healthcare facility;
o Prior experience with root cause analysis;
o Demonstrated critical thinking skills;
o Computer skills;
o Technical writing experience;
o Research experience;
o Public speaking; and
o Ability to work with diverse individuals.

Level 1: 100% State Contribution = $444.68 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2: 95% State Contribution = $422.45 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3: 90% State Contribution = $400.211 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4: 85% State Contribution = $377.98 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employees wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2017.
