Position Title Health Sciences Librarian - Special Instructor/Assistant Professor Position Number 896425 School/Division Library Operations Department Research and Technical Services Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description
The University Library is pleased to invite applications for the special appointment of a Health Sciences Librarian in the Department of Research and Technical Services. The librarian in this position will act as the liaison librarian/subject specialist to programs of the School of Health Professions and Human Services and provide research support and library instruction to undergraduate nursing students in the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. The Health Sciences Librarian will incorporate practices of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility into their delivery of in-person and virtual reference services, library instruction, individualized research support, and collection development activities.

The Health Sciences Librarian's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Serves as liaison to multiple programs and constituencies with responsibility for outreach, instruction, research consultation, and collection development.
Creates and maintains library guides, handouts, tutorials, and other learning objects related to subject specialist/liaison activities.
Provides both virtual and in-person reference services.
Prepares and submits monthly engagement statistics.
May participate in projects, strategic planning, and other library‐wide initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Available Monday-Saturday, day and evening hours as assigned.
Qualifications
An ALA accredited M.L.S./M.L.I.S. degree.
Experience providing or completion of coursework regarding reference and research services in health sciences, human services, nursing, and/or physician assistant areas of study.
Experience providing, or completion of coursework regarding teaching, developing educational programming, and/or development of instructional materials.
Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility within teaching, learning, and engagement services and experiences.
Preferred Quals Summary
Second master's degree in a related discipline required for appointment at Assistant Professor rank.
Working knowledge of Worldcat Discovery/OCLC LMS and related systems.

Salary/Salary Range $58,000-$65,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
