Reporting Structure

Reports to the Assistant General Manager

Responsibilities

The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading and directing the implementation of Safety Programs for the Campbellsville, Kentucky facility, including DOT compliance, OSHA compliance, workers' compensation program administration, and employee safety training:

  • Lead safety compliance by implementing and supporting on-site safety and health programs through on-site training, performing on-site inspections, auditing safety programs, and making recommendations for corrective actions and supervising those actions to closure.

  • Conduct risk hazard assessments and incident investigations and implement safety corrective actions to control hazards identified during surveys.

  • Develop and implement an annual Risk Reduction Plan to ensure risk hazards are eliminated or reduced.

  • Handle Workers' Compensation Program. Run the WC Administrator for self-insured/self-administered sites. Work with the TPC claims adjustor for claims. Handle and approve reserves for all claims and partner with the Legal department to resolve and settle claims.

  • Manage DOT compliance by ensuring DOT drivers' records is accurate and complete (as applicable.)

  • Ensure all DOT fleet vehicles are inspected annually as required and DOT inspection records are filed for easy access.

  • Work with Engineering on all projects to ensure safety standards are developed into plans from conception.

  • Develop and implement electronic Management of Change for all projects and track action items to closure.

  • Manage Contractor Safety Program to ensure all contractors meet Company guidelines and assist contracts in gaining ISN approval or completing facility approval when required.

  • Develop and implement Industrial Hygiene Sampling plan and ensure plan is conducted as required.

  • Analyze data to ensure exposures are controlled or develop plans to eliminate or reduce exposures.

  • Develop and deliver training programs involving health and safety.

  • Leads staff, including providing mentorship and training, setting goals, evaluating performance, planning staff assignments and development, and making and approving people management decisions (i.e., recruitment, promotions, terminations, and salary changes)

  • Actively seeks opportunities to get employees engaged in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.

  • Follow all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.

Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements as well as ISO/OSHAS management systems required.

  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change efforts affecting safety and environmental practices required.

  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing practices, regulatory agency requirements and industry standards.

  • Excellent digital literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs

  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and individually.

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to change messaging to match various backgrounds, experience, and/or education levels.

  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated highly effective presentation skills and training delivery skills.

  • Knowledge of federal/state/local safety and Worker's Compensation regulations is required.

  • OSHA 501, ASP, CIH, CSP certifications is a plus.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, or related area of focus from an accredited four-year college or university and at least two (2) years' work experience; or five (5) + years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and regulatory agencies.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Digital Literacy

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database systems, Microsoft Office.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

OSHA 501, ASP, CIH, CSP Certifications preferred, but not required.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There is a high noise level throughout the plant and hearing protection must always be worn while in the plant during production. Wearing other proper protective equipment including metatarsal safety shoes and eye protection is always required while in the plant during production.
