We are currently seeking a Health, Safety Environmental Manager to join our dynamic Team.

Job Purpose

The Health, Safety and Environmental Manager provides safety leadership, ensures operational compliance with safety standards, implements safety directives, assists management to improve safety performance, and helps align safety policies and procedures with regulations. This position supports departments and subcontractors.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and support creation of a strategy of safety and compliance strategic goals.

  • Ensure site management has the appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, managers, and supervisors, in order to drive the safety culture, compliance, and results.

  • Supervise, lead, and mentor company-wide safety and compliance support staff.

  • Develop effective safety and compliance programs and policies designed to meet operational goals to reduce injuries and incidents.

  • Communicate safety and compliance strategy and objectives to leadership.

  • Support site management in the implementation of safety and compliance programs or policies.

  • Design and implement effective metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern, and drive accountability.

  • Design and execute an effective Occupational, Health & Safety Management System.

  • Liaise with external vendors to manage hazardous waste hotline, SDS system, waste collection, and disposal program.

  • Develop and implement audit tracks and identify gaps in local compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures.

  • Lead or direct incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.

  • Facilitate supervisor and management training on root cause analysis.

  • Assist site management in ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.

  • Monitor, interpret and communicate regulatory changes to management.

  • Display strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills and analytical skills

  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader.

  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.

  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.

  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An Associate's degree or equivalent field experience

  • Five (5) years related supervisory experience in a safety role.

  • Working knowledge of the construction and/or telecommunications/electrical/gas industry.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for projects plans.

  • Ability to think strategically and provide strong leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

  • Valid US Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in related field of study or equivalent field experience.

  • OSHA 10 and 30 Certifications.

  • Certifications, such as ASP, CSP, CUSP, COSS, etc.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job often operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Your Key Responsibilities * Environmental regulatory and permitting responsibilities include: * Identifying project-specific environmental regulatory requirements, * Coordinate the Solar Permit by Rule process in the State of Virginia, including the completion of all required studies and reports as well as the preparation of the final submittal to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. * Coordinate the preparation, review, and editing of technical documents, such as environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and other and technical reports. * Writing and reviewing technical reports * Supporting Public Outreach in support of solar projects, including developing graphic representations and project literature as well as coordinating mass mailings of information to adjacent landowners. * Attendance at Public Meetings in support of the project which may include presentations on the status of environmental studies and permit acquisition including Permit by Rule. * Developing environmental permit applications. * Project management responsibilities may include: * Developing proposals. * Managing projects and budgets. * On-boarding and managing sub-consultants. * Coordinating with clients, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and internal project staff. * Performing and overseeing and reviewing project technical work. * Additional responsibilities may include: * Coordinating, conducting, and/or leading field work. * Ensure QA/QC and H&S requirements and procedures are identified and followed throughout a project's life cycle. * Provide staff mentorship and training.
