The Opportunity

  • Deliver continuous improvement in HSE performance through the implementation Group HSE Policies and Standards to ensure all staff, contractors and visitors are equipped to carry out their role without undue risk to their own health and safety or to that of others. This role is essential to ensure HSE requirements are defined and in place to support growth and transformation at the Fort Worth site.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

The Health, Safety, and Environment Leader functions includes but are not limited to:

  • In conjunction of the Engineering Manager, implement the Group HSE strategy, policy, rules and standards, influencing senior management and collaborating with front line employees to drive safety and environmental awareness to achieve sustainable results.

  • Act as site liaison with Group HSE.

  • Ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements implementing relevant procedures and policies if required.

  • Drive safety and environment risk assessment and conduct trend analysis from HSE incidents, observations and audits.

  • Develop and implement a documented HSE improvement plan for the site to ensure achievement of Group HSE targets and goals and continuously improve HSE performance.

  • Work with Group HSE and site based contacts to ensure effective management of occupational health and safety, process safety and environmental risks.

  • Robustly embed an effective HSE reporting process in line with Group requirements.

  • Develop and deploy internal HSE auditing and inspection systems and participate in audits of other Dechra locations as required

  • Ensure all HSE incidents are reported and investigated to identify root cause and prevent recurrence, sharing learnings across the group where appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE external reporting timelines e.g. OSHA, state and city mandatory requirements.

  • Provide regular performance reports to demonstrate conformance with group requirements and achievement of KPIs.

  • Promote open communication on all HSE issues through effective HSE Committees.

  • Identify training needs, including subject matter experts, and assist in delivery of HSE training programmes

  • Monitor environmental outputs from the site to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including all point and fugitive discharges to air, water, land.

  • Drive environmental improvement activities to reduce the sites environmental impact to air, water and land and achievement of all corporate commitments.

  • Promote good third party relationships with all stakeholder groups, including regulators.

  • Assist the Site Leadership Team to lead the Crisis Management Team ensuring effective emergency procedures are developed and regularly tested.

  • Actively participate and contribute to the Group Communities of Practice, to continually develop and improve group standards and compliance with best practice.

  • Be responsible, with management support, for own personal development and to actively contribute to the development of colleagues.

Qualifications

Safety or Industrial Engineering degree with a minimum of 3 years of HSE leadership experience. Alternatively 7+ years of Hands-on Safety leadership programs implementation. OSHA

Knowledge and Experience

Extensive health and safety

knowledge and experience at a site based level contributing to the site objectives

Knowledge and clear understanding of legislative requirements relating to occupational health, safety and environment

Experience of leading and

managing change processes related to HSE improvements.

Able to influence stakeholders across the site

Facilitate problem solving using tools and techniques

Experience in implementing, and developing Health & Safety management systems

Experience in implementing behavioural safety programmes with tangible results

Production experience gained in pharmaceutical industry or manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of and experience of using continuous improvement techniques
