The Position
Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement and evaluate health services and activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards and other work groups.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Women Infant and Children Program (WIC) is recruiting for a Health Program Trainee 1 (Underfill for a Health Program Specialist 1). This position is located in Carson City. Once trained, this position provides technical assistance and consultation in areas such as program administration, policy interpretation, and quality assurance to sub-granted agencies, clinics, and internal WIC staff.
In addition, once trained, this position assists in the preparation of trainings, the annual Nevada WIC State Plan, and state and federal reports. This position will serve as a subject matter expert for WIC policies and procedures and WIC program reviews. The position will acquire extensive knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and must be able to convey current and potential policy and procedural changes to WIC stakeholders and Internal staff.
Once trained, the position also provides technical assistance to sub-granted Local Agencies and clinics which provide direct WIC services to participants throughout Nevada. Significant knowledge of the NV WISH Management Information System (MIS) and the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system requirements must be attained within six months of employment. This position is vital in providing the support needed to WIC Local Agencies.
